methods for getting from cuba to miami??

My ma wants me to fly out to Cuba with her in march. Afterwards I would like to embark on a solo journey along the south coast of thee ame-ree-cahs.. Cali being the final stop... and well since I'll be out in Cuba this would be a close chance to ... [MOD EDIT - DELETE] ... miami.. I'm thinking of hanging around at some pilot restaurants or maybe a docking station.. just try to grab a ride to miami, ya know? Any ideas of some around there? Can ya even get rides from cuba into miami? thanks for any tips

I used to live in south Flo'Duh...just do what the Cubans do: drift in on anything that floats.
special bonus tip: watch out for sharks and the Coast Guard.

here's another one: get a sense of humo(u)r, it really does help.

what you're asking for is not likely going to happen anyhow, due to the political situation between the US and Cuba. there are a few limited flights between Cuba and the US and not just anyone can board one. a non-US registered boat would be the best way, but any boats that make a port-of-call in Cuba get scrutinized by the Coast Guard.
better to get a boat or a flight to another country, say the Bahamas, then look for a way into the US from there rather than trying a direct route.

what about a role reversal? how would someone from the states make it to cuba? hypothetically ofcourse

only way to do that is go to another country first. it isn't illegal for an American to travel to Cuba, but here's the kicker: it's illegal to spend money there.
there are a few direct flights from Miami and NYC, but these are only booked by people who have relatives in Cuba.
it is not understandable why there is a 50 year old embargo still in effect.
