2 come to mind off the top of my head...
First one being the gazebo that was (they've since taken it down) in Battery Park at the very southernmost point of Charleston, SC... Amazing views, beautifully mysteriously sexxxyyyy Spanish moss (I <3 spanish moss), and hell, it kept me dry during the torrential downpours the nights that I slept there.
Second - Before I went out to Hawai'i, I had emailed a friend who had spent significant amount of time on Maui, asking her for tips 'n tricks of good places, things, etc. She responded with this very detailed set of instructions for a beach in Hana, behind the school there. At this beach, which consisted of BEAUTIFUL dark auburn sand (the surrounding cliffs were also this colour), there was a large overhang, under which I spent the night. Cooked a meal of Spam and rice, true Hawai'ian style. It was awesome, and I felt a wonderful connection to that good friend, knowing that years before, she had slept under the very same overhang...
Whenever I go on trips, people (namely my parents) ask me, 'Where will you SLEEP??!!!' For me, that's one of the funnest parts of trekking - the treasure hunt for that perfect, FREE, sleep-spot... Ahhhhhh....
