at least it was only sweat! about two days ago i hitched from atlanta to where i am now in St. louis and the weather freaking sucked! it wasnt pouring at all, mainly mist, but all the trucks driving by spray all that water on the ground at me and halfway through the day i found my socks her just soaked along with my shoes. i dealt walking with that for about 6 hours with an occasional ride here and there until i finally hitched a ride from a trucker. Then i finally got to take my wet shoes off and put dry socks on and let my shoes dry on the way up here. other than the horrible drenched socks and shoes, it was a great trip!

If/when you have the means, try a few pairs of hemp-based socks and/or hemp-based shoes/boots. They'll allow your feet to breathe, and keep them warm and bone dry. They also won't get nearly as smelly.. because of hemp's antibacterial properties.

need to look after your feet, as its your feet that are getting you around.

I learnt from an old time tramper, to wash ones socks and feet every night and have a fresh pair each morning. so u rotate 2 pairs socks. find a powder that works for you. I liked unscented baby power, when I was in the populated areas.
When we set out to walk the length of Africa, sandles was the answer. but in the cooler and rougher ground areas socks and walking shoes. but still washed my feet and lived on a pint of water a day for everything. now I know that was not good as I did not drink enough in those days and it stuffs your kidneys.

and get some sun into your toes, best anti bacterial agent out , and free (unless in UK and I don't think they see the sun there...) but that is another story...

these guys are sooo right. no cotton being the first thing. always change your socks everyday. its a must or youll have boot rot in a heart beat. i always carry dental floss, has many uses other than floss. sewing string, clothesline, and an occasional garrote for stray pigs that wander up onto your squat
