:?: Well I hope that I do not get in trouble for writing in this Forum. I am a new Road Team Member and was just wondering who all is a Road Team Member?[/color:b882118d04] I also have a few other questions. Why is it that most of the posts are no longer being looked at any more?[/color:b882118d04] I have started bringing forward alot of the posts that were way in back and looked like the last time that someone wrote a reply was back when the dinosaurs roamed the world. Why?[/color:b882118d04] I think that alot of the topics that are back there are probably still very important but, have been forgotten about. Is there anything that we can do about this so that everyone can see them?[/color:b882118d04] I know that I am one of the majority of people that will only search the first three pages of the internet before I decide that what I am looking for isn't there. I know that there are alot of other people out there just like that because it is just our nature. I decided to go through the posts and see what is there and bring some of the old posts forward. But, I know that it will become very nerve wracking to people when they see that the posts that they were writing in are on the second or third page. So I'd really like to know what we can do to help achieve (Salman's) Digihitch's misson?[/color:b882118d04] Does anyone have any advice? [/color:b882118d04]Secondly why are there no activities planned for the midwest?[/color:b882118d04] I live out here right now and I know that in Nebraska there are alot of places where we could possibly have an activity. I would start one up but, I was a Sgt. in my High School's JROTC and there was a good reason for that. I am a small leader led by other's to lead a few that was my only job. That's why I know that I can do the work of a Road Team Member even though there are about a thousand but, only a few have come to me and that is why I know that i can do this. But, if I were in Salman's shoes I would definitly fail for my mind would go crazy. That is one of the reasons for why I strongly respect Salman plus there are other reasons. Okay but, does any one have any suggestions  or answers for my questions?[/color:b882118d04]The Raven :)

Posts falling back and other road team ideas

Postby Salman » January 31st, 2008, 1:04 am

Raven, it's been a while since I checked this forum and I've got to do a better job of it so all Road Team members know they can share ideas here and get answers.

I'll try to give more detailed responses here soon. To start, about old messages falling into the far back pages of the forums:

Even though there is some very good advice on old posts on pages 5, 8, or even 20 of certain forums, we try to avoid making more than a few "sticky" posts for any one forum. For this reason the SEARCH feature is the most important of all, and we remind people to use it before starting a post.

There are some diggers who will help bring important topics up to the front by replying to them, and that's great! If and when you do, mention that the post is old but you have relevant info to add.

I also have some stuff to announce in a different post in this forum (please look for it) about the influx of sparkies and what we as Road Team members and moderators can best do to serve them.

I do not believe the older posts to be 'neglected', per se. Some of them have been rehashed in different formats. Some of the posts may have satisfied their purpose as well.

However, just give the subjects that need the dust blown off of them a 'wake up' post and bring them to the front again, see if anyone is biting. With so many issues, needs, and thoughts that travel through these forums (and have in the 5-so-odd-years I have been here), not all of them will get the attention they deserve.

As far as activities for the Midwest, I have tried once before to get together with Tobobear and see what we could do about some sort of a scavenger hunt. How that went is beyond me because this site had a major crash last year and alot of posts were lost.

I'm all up for us meeting somewhere neutral. Some place where we can all chill and talk, maybe begin new journeys together. Of course, synchronizing everyone may be a challenge with all the events and gatherings that happen throughout the year.

Thank you both for helpin me to find out what can be done with these "old" posts. I will try and bring some more forward and see what happens. I think that there is alot of interesting things that need to be seen but, well they are way in the back and haven't been seen in a year or more. Raven
