Best tent and sleeping bag?

Postby klippy » April 17th, 2012, 7:01 am

I appreciate this is a fairly cliche subject, but I can't seem to get anywhere when searching for this topic in the search bar and I really want to know what are the best BRITISH tents and sleeping bags...
I found the perfect tent the other day; very light, great size and all for £100. Unfortunately it was an american brand and I couldnt find it being sold in the UK anywhere...

I'll be hiking through france and switzerland in June and July, up in the mountains.
Could someone recommend me a good all round 1-2 person tent and sleeping bag?
I've searched the past month online and can't seem to find anything completely suitable.
Either it's been too heavy, too small, not durable or has had bad reviews...
£100-200 for the tent, up to £80 for the sleeping bag.

Any recommendations? Some advice would be perfect.
Or if there's been a previous thread, if you could link, that would too be excellent.

This topic has been covered a hundred times on Digihitch, but I can't be bothered to send you links to those threads, I'm sure someone will shortly. Or you can search for it.

This tent is my best friend. £26. I've lived in it for a year and a half with no problems at all.

It's tiny and only wieghs 1.5kg. Don't expect any amazing sex in it, or any sex atall for that matter, but you can always make love outside. ;)

As for sleeping bag, I'd get something that goes down to -15°C or less on the extreme rating and atleast 0°C on the comfort rating. Even if you're in hot countries you might go up high. And you never know where you'll end up if your on the road for long. That said, if your going for a quick trip around india or something then it's probably not worth it.

Goodluck,
