Hitchhiking from Southern France to Germany?

Hi everyone!

I am planning on spending a couple of days in Marseille before heading back home to Germany.

What would be a good route to do that trip?
Since a live in the Southeast of Germany I thought about going via Italy-Switzerland-Austria, too, but obviously hitchhiking isn't that common there, i it true? Also I don't speak Italian, whereas my French is good. A huge plus for France I guess.
The shortest way to do it via France would be marseille-lyon-strasbourg anyone who has done this route already?
