Stuck

Postby Thursday » August 17th, 2011, 2:50 pm

Me and my travel partner are currently stuck at the tiffin rest area in iowa. Tiffin onramp onto I-80 was a bust so we started walking and ended up here. Any advice for two s
parkies?

i dont know the area you are at, but i would find the nearest state road and just start walking in the general direction you are headed. sta;y off the interstate though. good luck, stay safe and keep the beer cold.

"stuck"

[i:7ae89d27fb]Define "stuck" . . .[/i:7ae89d27fb]

The longest wait I've had for a ride was three days — and that's all it was, simply a "wait".

The gelfling tells me her longest wait was five days, somewhere in Portugal (although I suspect she spent much of that time sitting in the local [i:7ae89d27fb]taverna[/i:7ae89d27fb] and not standing beside the road).

The longest wait I'm aware of was that of Alexey Vorov who waited six days at Chucotka in the Far North of Russia (reference).

Any advice? — enjoy your "waiting" times, Thursday. Seriously!

Thanks kevbo. We ended up climbing over a bridge to get on a dirt road that lead to us highway 6. Half a mile down we got picked up by an old farmer who gave us a ride to the highway. A ways down that we got picked up by a guy who gave us a ride to victor iowa. Your advice really saved us haha.

Okay succat. I'm a bit more prepared for the wait now. I was pretty impatient on the first day. I kept wondering whether or not we were gonna get picked up and the pointing and laughs started getting to me. Guess I need to harden up a bit.

Your completely right redford. We should have went back. Instead we walk nearly to the oxford exit before we cut up to the dirt road. But it worked out. We're in fort worth now.

Thanks for all the help!

I know I'm late to this thread but interestingly enough I was stuck at the rest stop west of Tiffin for a few hours. The woman cleaning the place told me I couldn't say there all night, which I took as a stern "Eff off". Walked to the Kum & Go. Right after walking in a trucker offered me a ride since he was going to Chi too, but wouldn't be leaving for a bit, but since it was a little chilly out we decided to hang out and talk for a bit. Turned out he was gay, his husband had died, blah blah blah.

Got out of the truck, walked back to the Kum & Go (he had pulled out of the lot to another shoulder to talk), and spent the night on the patio of an almost completed condo building near the K & G. In the morning I walked back to the on-ramp, and right before I got there, I got a ride to Davenport. Not a bad deal.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
