Any suggested routes from Portland, OR to Ft Collins, CO?

Postby kevka » August 19th, 2012, 7:09 pm

I am wondering if I should take I-84 to I-80 to I-25 (-Oregon-, Boise, SLC, Cheyenne) or I-5 to I-90 to I-25 (Seattle, Spokane, -Montana-, -Wyoming-)
Anyone have any recommendations? I am hoping to make this a quick trip. I will be leaving anytime between now and the first week of September. I was considering seeing Washington but I might wait for a later time to do sight-seeing and all that.
Any information on getting free bus tickets would also be awesome, even though taking buses is counterintuitive to the hitching experience.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

I just did Portland to SLC ( VIA I84, US20, I15 and it took me less than 48 hours. It's a pretty easy route.

P.S. Regarding the free bus:
There is a city bus in Fort Collins that can run you around the town for free if you can convince them you are under 18 (the driver was skeptical, but I got away with it even with a backpack). Otherwise I think it is a couple dollars.
