BC to the maritimes

Postby sinerik » August 7th, 2012, 3:39 am

Looking for a partner to hitchhike across Canada with! I have plenty of hitchhiking experience and just looking to add to that resume! I have to be in Newbrunswick preferably by Sept 3rd, but I am not too worried about dates. Would like to leave after the 20th of August. So that would give us about two weeks to make it across the country!!

Any chance you'll continue to Newfoundland? It's pretty sweet out here. For anyone heading this way, a hidden piece of paradise is Thunder Brook Falls, 10km west of Grand Falls. Hike up past the 1st and 2nd falls (popular with locals. You can jump off the 2nd falls which is 40ft), and continue up the river bed for about half an hour. You'll come to the 3rd falls - a tier of about 4 waterfalls, and you can chill there all day, the pools are like a jacuzzi. Paradise.
And of course, Gros Morne National park...

Thanks for the tip Wildwill. I'm in Nova Scotia right now will be taking the ferry to Newfoundland today. When you say the pools are like a Jacuzzi, do you mean they are warm? The nights have been getting into the 40s around here (fahrenheit) and some warm water would be nice.

Hell man, we should meet up! I'll take you to the falls. My friend and I aren't working tomorrow, if you're gonna be in Central? And bro, best bit - if you wonna come rafting for the day, you can come free as my guest. Perks of the road! I'm working Saturday, my last day for the season. Let me know so I can book you in.

The pools aren't cold. Earlier in the summer you could sit in it for an hour happily. I assume now it would be about 16+ Celsius. You can sit under the small waterfalls and that's what makes it like a jacuzzi. Natural massage lol.

Came through Maine and got a ride all the way to Antigonish, took the ferry in the next day. I heard Hurricane Leslie tore NFLD a new one, everything alright out east?

Hey Windandrain! You should try to compile a map detailing this year's hitchhiking travels! :) I'm sure the community would love to see the extent of the ground you have covered.
