Max, your website seems to be down and you got us all in suspense (or at least me) with your post. Could you at least give us a condensed version of this story?

i slept next to a train track in the Ozarks.. that i thought was abandoned.

It was the night of a meteor shower! righteous. i thought that i was imagining it at first. fell asleep counting shooting stars.

Then a train rolled by at 4am about 15 feet from my head and scared the sh|t out of me.

thanks
yes I will write it out of experiencing "ghosts on top of the great great pyramid of Giza." but it is a story that realy needs to be spoken, not read. maybe i can find a place to store an mp3 of it, easier than typing.

have fixed website address (note the full story is not on there either).

When I was in Orlando, this kid and I were sleeping under this over grown queen palm tree. It was basically like living in a mini cave because it was so over grown that the branches completely surrounded us. We brought ply wood to sleep on and were able to store our stuff their all day and night but after about 3 weeks the park ranger caught us.

One of my favorites was the Park Lane squat in London. Yes, it was cold, noisy, and lacking in some modern conveniences, but the parties and the people there made it priceless! I actually broke up with my boyfriend of 2 1/2 years because I chose that place over him. It was one of the defining moments of my life and the first squat I ever lived in (third one I ever entered though).

Another favorite was a yurt in Regent's Park near the boating lake surrounded by an art installation.

I think in Denmark, when the UN Copenhagen climate summit was on. There was a tent/museum set up in a main square exhibiting the plight of climate refugees. There was a flashmob and when it opened, somehow every news station in Denmark new that I'de hitched from London to Copenhagen and interviewed me. There were these 3 great Danish guys who worked with an NGO who as a protest were staying in the tent. I asked if I could stay, n they said, sure, good to see you protest etc, and I just said, na I need a place to sleep mate. I'm the real climate [i:e04a53cfdf]conference[/i:e04a53cfdf] refugee. We slept on hay, n some crazy guy came in in the middle of the night pretending to be French.

*An abandoned school bus on the outskirts of salt lake city utah

* in a large concrete tube in a field south of Cheyenne Wyoming (a little uncomfortable but worked for shelter)

* In a little old lady's garden who I met in Hot Sulfur Springs Colorado.

*In the cabin of some staff I met in Glacier National Park Montana

*Walking along highway 1 at Jenner Pass in california as the sun set, then climbing up the mountain and sleeping with a view of the ocean all the way to point reyes near sanfrancisco.

* behind a huge mound of gravel in a construction area in Idaho. Got dropped off by a trucker at the 86 and 84 junction at night, and walked along the highway east for a couple miles until a freindly police officer stopped us and said we could sleep in the near by construction zone without being hassled. That was a pleasant surprise.

*One of my favorites was in Oregon at an incredible unmarked beach just south of mt.Humbug, sleeping on top of an island just out in the ocean that connected to the beach at low tide . Woke up and the tide had come in and surrounded the island so I jumped off and waded back to shore holding my pack over my head.

*Another favorite was sleeping in a large thorny bush with a large opening we crawled inside of. It was in a random town called Pendelton in Oregon, where two freinds and I walked towards some bushes to find a place to sleep and started hearing people whispering for us to come closer. We realized they were other travelers who introduced themselves as "Alley Cat, captain kittens and kate", and we stayed up with them and drank, then all slept next to each other ,packed like sardines. we later ran into them at the rainbow gathering in Wyoming 2008.

Outside of Yosemite national park in the Sierra Nevadas. I camped on the edge of a cliff looking out into forest and mountains as far as the eye can see. I was facing dead west and watched the sun go down for about an hour and half. The only bad part was all the animal noises I heard outside my tent all night. I didn't get a wink of sleep. Infact I was too scared to leave my tent I had to pee in my canteen.

A friend and I hitched a ride with a trucker from the Panamerican just outside Antofagasta, Chile to downtown Antofagasta. The trucker had a spare bunk inside the cabin on which I slept. My friend had the cooler sleeping spot. He pitched his tent in the back of the rig right in the center of the city. Slept like a babe throughout the night.
