[quote:f18a93ebd8]Im 15 and i have a photo student card, and a care card and stuff liek that but i dont have a birth certificate can i still get across??[/quote:f18a93ebd8]

depending on where you choose to cross the border, i suggest crossing illegally. out in farmland, that would be a lot easier than, say, detroit. of course, you could get into trouble with cops (a definite possiblity if hitchhiking). otherwise -- if i were a betting man -- i'd bet they wouldn't let you across the border without government-issue i.d. (two forms is great).

illegal border crossing

Postby spareassannie » June 10th, 2004, 3:16 pm

Does anybody know where along the border one could cross illegally? I've heard that advice a few times, with no concrete suggestions. If anyone has done so successfully, please let us know!

Also, I hate to sound pessimistic, but I'm not sure they would allow a 15 year-old over the border without some sort of parrental consent.

last xmas i came back into the us from ciudad acuna into del rio, tx.

i was detained for almost an hour and segregated.

i'm a us citizen, but have a relatively common spanish surname.

it was funny though, because they kept asking me the same questions over and over and wanted more and more i.d.

all i had was a tx dl and a depaul university student i.d.

still, i was somewhat incensed at the whole ordeal, but they were like really serious cops, telling me to announce my movements beforehand, and asking to back up when i got too close to the desk.

I wanna cross canada from Grande Prairie, head over to ontario and try to cross down into minnesota and then over to wisconsin, any idea how much of an ass pain it would be to cross there? or would it be easier just to cross in at southern alberta and cross the US instead... i'd much prefer to stay in canada due to funds on the way over, and ease of getting rides ~at least over here~ but dunno which would just be less stressful...

if you want minimal hassle from us customs i recommend amtrak

as a uk citizen [until i finally become canadian] they took me to carriage at the back. we sat at a table and chatted casually [as opposed to officially]

[he joked about shooting a kid cos he stepped on his gum...laughing nervously is recommended]

they have no computerised systems and eveything is handwritten. this is on the montreal to new york train

This is my honest account of crossing the border. simply lay all the information they require [passport...maybe a bank statement] and you will be fine

Cards on the table guys

Useful info. Logan, thanks.

How recent was this?...No computer checks/everything handwritten?

Isn't there a pre-boarding immigration checkpoint in the station (Montreal) ?

all the best.

FROM canada to USA i don;t recommend it: for one reason, unlike imigration canada, OUR guys carry guns.(+ we have not one but TWO divisions patrolling, immigration AND border patrol(and many farmers in USA won't hesitate to fire a warning shot at someone trespassing, either.)(ESPECIALLY along the border)

FROM usa to canada, i don;t recommend it either, but there are allegedly ways.

i will lay it on the line what you need to cross legally:
