Touring Question

Postby DigiBard » September 28th, 2003, 8:57 pm

My band mates and I are in the process of planning a U.S. Tour, and (since I was initially planning a trip through Europe) A Europe tour. However, we haven't the foggiest idea of where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Book Your Own Fuckin' Life

Postby hikecrazy » September 29th, 2003, 8:52 pm

You can start by looking here: Book Your Own Fuckin' Life which is a site that's useful for making connections in the world of underground music.

I would suggest that you start by asking anybody you know who has done any [b:a42e32bc70]serious [/b:a42e32bc70]touring about their experiences and stories. The best way to work out how to do tours from scratch is by learning from those who have already done them.

I've done quite a bit of touring and the best way to hook things up is to meet people and find out what's going on. You can send e-mails to clubs and promoters too but if you're starting as a completely unknown band they won't treat you well.

Just remember one thing: Everyone starts somewhere but almost every band loses money while on the road at the beginning. Touring is hard but can be big fun.

If any bands (punk, hardcore or related) are on tour, you can visit a website from a local scene in and around my hometown... http://www.slambrigade.be and take a look... Some of the guys overthere book shows and can tell you more about it... (we had bands such as Funeral Dress (Bel) , Ratos De Porao (Bra), Career Suicide (Can), Chainsaw (Jap), and coming this august 1st... Direct Control (Usa).

Check the Shows section, and you will find links for Shows in Belgium, and in the whole BeNeLux... Good Luck! And if you ahve more questions, please feel free to contact me..
