From Oakland to New Orleans

Ahoy,

we are a two person experimental punk band planning to somehow travel from Oakland to New Orleans starting in about 3 weeks. the plan is to partly play shows and partly to busk.
anyone out there setting up shows or knowing good spots to busk on the way?

I can only give you one suggestion and it's close to your beginnings:
Nevada City, Ca., Grass Valley, and North San Juan.
take state route 49 north from 80 in Auburn, another 30 or so miles you're there.
might be a little off your planned route, but a great place. lots of kooks, weirdos, loonies and ne'er-do-wells inhabit that area...I fit in perfectly, too bad it's winter
