Roger Miller- King of the road
Roger Miller- Dang me
Bob Seger- Against the wind
Gordon Lightfoot- Alberta Bound
Flogging Molly- Any of there songs
Beethoven- 9th symphony
The Dubliners- The foggy dew
The Irish Rover
Whiskey in the jar (Not the metalica version)
I have too many to list, but these are the ones that I sing the most. I have a Mp3, but i have learned the basic chords of these songs so i can play these songs on my guitar. I listen to music 24/7 even when i am sleeping, but these are the songs I play the most. excluding Beethoven unless it is a simple version.
I listen to Gallagher & Lyle "Breakaway" as it reminds me of my first hitch, then anything by Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, John Prine and Bruce Springsteen. Lately two albums by Bruce Hornsby, The Way it is and Scenes from the South Side.
...and they lay down behind me to sleep beside the road, till the morning has come, where they know they will find me, with my maps and my faith in the distance, moving father on. (Jackson Browne)
It depends on my mood really. Here are a few I like:
Highway to Hell - AC/DC
Let It Be - The Beatles
Fortunate Son - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Times Like These - Foo Fighters
Should I Stay or Should I Go - The Clash
Slowride - Foghat
Definatly "Wagon Wheel"..... And pretty much all Against Me!... Besides New Wave. I never carry any music just a harmonica and the lyrics i can remember. The worst is getting picked up by a middle aged couple listening to smooth jazz or some other sappy nonsense...but a rides a ride and you can't complain.
never heard the against me cover but definitely the original Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medecine Show.
everytime i step foot on the road or even think about sticking my thumb out it pops into my head. i don't actually have anything that plays music but love to sing it to myself.
also, Leadbelly - In the Pines...pretty awesome song. Kurt Cobain does a good cover of it too.
Mine would have to be Black Throated Wind by the GD. Always, for some reason, have a girl on my mind and this just makes it all worthwhile. Of course, Loser and WharfRat are my soul's lullabies.
