[quote:7e758db678="sketchy"]I know I found one of my old tapes from when I was little, and it had this song on it I almost creamed my pants when I heard it again : )

It's by Vanity Fair .. and it's called "Hitchin a Ride"

[quote:7e758db678]A thumb goes up, a car goes by
It's nearly 1 a.m. and here am I
Hitchin' a ride, hitchin' a ride
Gotta get me home by the morning light

I got no fare to ride a train
I'm nearly drowin' in the pouring rain
Hitchin' a ride, hitchin' a ride
Gotta get me home to my baby's side

Ride, ride, ride, hitchin' a ride
Ride, ride, ride, hitchin' a ride

Long distance call I got today
She sounded lonely so I'm on my way
Hitchin' a ride, hitchin' a ride
Gotta get me home, keep her satisfied

instrumental break

Ride, ride, ride, hitchin' a ride
Ride, ride, ride, hitchin' a ride

A thumb goes up, a car goes by
Oh, won't somebody stop and help a guy?
Hitchin' a ride, hitchin' a ride
Been away too long from my baby's side

Ride, ride, ride, hitchin' a ride
Ride, ride, ride, hitchin' a ride

Ride, ride, ride, hitchin' a ride
Ride, ride, ride, hitchin' a ride

Ride, ride
Ride, ride
Ride, ride
Ride, ride
... [fade][/quote:7e758db678]

Not like you needed the lyrics ... but its a pretty chilled song ..[/quote:7e758db678]
[b:7e758db678][color=green:7e758db678]SWEET. I've been wondering who does that song! They play it a lot on the oldies station here in my hometown, but they never tell you who sings what. :x

Anyway, my favorites are Any Road by George Harrison and Wheel in the Sky by Journey. :P [/color:7e758db678][/b:7e758db678]

I've got a lot of metal and classic rock on my mp3 player...but...yes there is some John Denver and Gordon Lightfoot. It just seems appropriate.

Get a copy of "Mr. E's Beautiful Blues" from The Eels. It's on the soundtrack for the movie "Road Trip".

My g/f hates it because I sing it all of the time. When I'm on the road I can't get it out of my head.

"God damn right it's a beautiful day..."

hey! when i'm on the road i usually listen to every kind of music cause i'm open to it. Very often when i hear a song it's just a perfect song for that moment. But i have also my favourite songs which always create the atmosphere of going somewhere or as if i was on my way: joy divisione - love will tear us apart, bob marley with peter tosh - stop that train i'm leaving, the doors - love me two times, Iggy pop - lust for life, the passenger, the clash - should i stay or should i go, straight to hell, the prodigy - voodoo people, breathe, something new bob sinclar - love generation. Well there are some songs that when u listen to it, it can really takes u on a journey.
cheers!

I went Vancouver to Alaska with Neutral Milk Hotel "In the Airplane over the sea". It remains a pretty special album, I would say a classic. If you're going to check it out get the full album, though the individual songs are good, it needs to be experienced as a whole I think.

For some reason, I have always like "Highway Song" by Blackfoot. Goes with the territory, I guess...

"Cowboy Song" by Thin Lizzy off "Live and Dangerous" always did it for me. And I'm hardly a cowboy.

For some reason all of Bob Seger's songs remind me of being on the road whenever I take a brief hiatus from the road
