Interesting lyric

I happened to come across something amusing when doing my daily rounds of checking out new music. I was listening to Chino XL when he raps that "I Spit it harder than hitchhiking with no thumbs". My silly ass didnt get it at first but after a quick ponder I got it. I thought it was funny. As I am always surprised when listening to rap music or any music for that matter and something about hitchhiking is mentioned.

that is funny! while i was traveling, i met several freestyle'in folks, many a rap artist has 'made it' coming off the streets, and i know from my experience that some were in contact with hitchhikers or did it themselves.

thats cool...I didn't know that hitchhiking and hip hop were all that connected. They both stay close to the road/streets, I guess they are bound connect in some way.

and have a glass of whiskey with another friend

Ridin My Thumb To Mexico

When You're going where you've been
And a lonesome song can make you cry
Time and time again
If I'd listened to a friend of mine ten
Years ago today, I'd have a better job
Than what I've got today

But the billboards on the highway and the
brake lights on the cars Make me jump out on the highway
with my bag and my guitar
If she comes or if she goes it doesn't matter
Anymore cause i'm ridin' my thumb to Mexico

Ridin' my thumb to Mexico
It don't matter when or how I go
I'm ridin' my thumb til I see her again
I'm ridin my thumb to Mexico

The reason why she left me's not the reason that I'm here;
I'm a travlin' kind of man, just need a change of atmosphere.
If there's any place I haven't been at all that's where I'll go
So I'm ridin' my thumb to Mexico

Ridin' my thumb to Mexico
It don't matter when or how I go
I'm ridin' my thumb til I see her again
I'm ridin my thumb to Mexico

I posted some lyrics on my website. The one that I like the best is a song by John Denver called No One.

I can relate.

This old song gets stuck in my head from time to time. It's in there now playing. Maybe posting the lyrics might help clear my head..... Ha.ha.ha

It's a Janis Joplin tune
Me and Bobby McGee

Me & Bobby McGee Lyrics

Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waiting for a train
And I's feeling nearly as faded as my jeans.
Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained,
It rode us all the way to New Orleans.

I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna,
I was playing soft while Bobby sang the blues.
Windshield wipers slapping time, I was holding Bobby's hand in mine,
We sang every song that driver knew.

Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose,
Nothing don't mean nothing honey if it ain't free, now now.
And feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues,
You know feeling good was good enough for me,
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.

From the Kentucky coal mines to the California sun,
Hey, Bobby shared the secrets of my soul.
Through all kinds of weather, through everything that we done,
Hey Bobby baby kept me from the cold.

One day up near Salinas, Lord, I let him slip away,
He's looking for that home and I hope he finds it,
But I'd trade all of my tomorrows for one single yesterday
To be holding Bobby's body next to mine.

Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose,
Nothing, that's all that Bobby left me, yeah,
But feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues,
Hey, feeling good was good enough for me, hmm hmm,
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.

La la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la la
La la la la la Bobby McGee.
La la la la la, la la la la la
La la la la la, Bobby McGee, la.

La La la, la la la la la la,
La La la la la la la la la, hey now Bobby now Bobby McGee yeah.
Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na na na na
Hey now Bobby now, Bobby McGee, yeah.

Lord, I'm calling my lover, calling my man,
I said I'm calling my lover just the best I can,
C'mon, where is Bobby now, where is Bobby McGee, yeah,
Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lord
Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee, Lord!

Yeah! Whew!

Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lord
Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee.

actually, kris kristofferson wrote that, janis had the first big hit with it, tho.

the reason that info sticks out in my mind,is a few yrs back toni brown, then editor for RELIX magazine, used that song as an example in style guidelines for freelancers that she published, reminding people submitting show reviews, if a musician covers a song in concert, to refer to the song by its original author.(note: i;ve not worked for RELIX, but a friend of mine in CT occasiionally did), and she showed me the memo
