Howdy folks!
I am planning a trip from Humboldt, Ca. to visit my family in South America. They live in Santiago, Chile, Tandil and Buenos Aires, Argentina and Montevideo and Punta del Este, Uruguay, so my route will take us to the east coast and the return leg is not decided. I grew up visiting the region frequently, so I know many colloquialisms and speak more or less like a native (granted I am a touch out of practice {I'll get plenty in Mexico}). I have hitchhiked a bit in North America, but mostly in friendly Northern Cali. I am a 22 yr. old male with dreads and a djembe and a great big beard, so I get some pretty cool people pickin me up:) I think it would be fun to share the experience (especially with a freewheelin' dready mama;) and I feel obligated to help anyone who feels limited by lack of spanish language skills or lack of a sidekick. I'd like to be south of San Fransisco before the end of 2008. If the trip appeals to you but you'd like to go during a different time of year, I would ask you to reconsider and possibly join me; I am planning my trip to line up with the optimal traveling weather.
