Three week trip to China. Sparky needs some hints.

Hello digihitch,

This is my first topic posted on the site and I would greatly appreciate your input. A friend of mine is planning a three week trip to China (Beijing) in August to film a TV show, and he has offered to take me with him. While I plan to travel there with my friend, once there I would like to get out and about in far east asia for three weeks and then meet up with my group for our departing flight. So my question is this, where can I go in three weeks time? What should I do/see? What do I need to know about the country before I get there? Any other tips, stories, or random info?
