interesting story and interesting comments.....easy to call people "racist", but if YOU were the one getting your teeth kicked in for being in the "wrong neighborhood" would YOU feel the same? its wrong to lynch people because they whistle at a woman but it is JUST as wrong to sit in your "hood" and wait for the next victim carrying a backpack...no matter what colour they are.

good story.
I had a similar encounter at the Antioch skatepark,
me being the gazelle that i am, watched as a pack of neo-aplha-juicehead-money mongers surround me and two other gazelles, one who was on cruches. thier hunting methods were tested and proved sucessfull, i told them not to spend that 1.50 all in one place.
As for whether they were black or not, i think thats irrelevant.
However , i do think that the gangster rap and consequently the hip hop movement, cater to the; get money, disrespect woman, and harm people attitude. And all races and creeds are apart of this mentality. Not just blacks.
music and the world has suffered since its uprising, and crime and get rich quick schemes are force fed down our throat by the industry.
therefore i just avoid the Hip Hop Movement. And the practitioners.
Now that is not to say all of them are like that. But im willing to over look the great things about hiphop( graffiti, and breakdancing) so that i dont run into thier Vanguards, and money mongers.

I was a junior in High School. It was at a Friday night dance. I left my friends and walked to the far side of the gym and down the hall a short distance and went in the restroom. As I entered, some 6 guys of a minority group were standing around. One guy I recognized from my neighborhood. I said "Hi."

Went to the urinal. Finished and zipped. I heard, "Get him." The guy I knew said "No, not him, I know him." The leader said, "Yes, get him."
In a second I was being beat up by some 5 guys at once. When I fell on the floor, they started to kick me." The guy I knew, stayed out of the fight. In three minutes, it was over. They were gone. I picked myself up, washed up and combed my hair. And tried to act unhurt.

I lived in one coal mining town. Those kids, except for the one, were from a different coal mining town. Half of my best neighborhood friends belonged to that ethnic group. I hurt for a week.
