your optimism is refreshing. i have encountered a similar experience in los angeles - but i was held up with a knife. i paused and then ran like hell! what i did wan't safe but it's difficult to predict your reactions when put under that situation. i enjoyed you sharing this.

I like your stories, you remember a lot of details. Did you lose your board too? That would suck, especially after carrying that extra weight. You definitely did the right thing, it'd be dumb to get beat up over spaghettios.

Why don't you say they were black! They were black right? Tell it like it is and to hell with sparing anyone's feelings. If blacks robbed you say so and don't hide it. It needs to be said!!

And since you seem to dislike the idea of "sparing feelings", I'm going to go ahead and say that your comment smacks of ignorance.It didn't occur to my countrified cracker-ass to wonder about race, and you might want to ask yourself why you're seemingly so hung-up about it.

Just noticed this. Iâll answer. I see you are a hitch hiker, now as a hitch hiker wouldnât you like to know if there is a town in Idaho that it is impossible to get a lift out of? Or would you like that kept secret because it might offend the people in that town? I believe these muggers are black so this information should be published so the rest of you hitch hikers can avoid being dropped in black areas. Doesnât that make sense? If it doesnât YOUâRE going to get mugged. I see youâre just a young kid and donât know any better â you will learn.

Dude, judging an entire group by the actions of a few is called stereotyping. Judging an entire race by an isolated incident is called racism (or just plain stupid). As far as "learning my lesson", I've been mugged and ****ed with plenty, and naturally it made me mad at the time. But if you spend anytime travelling, you know people are people, bound to do you good when you least expect it. So I'd say you're the one lacking in experience- of the positive kind.

Fine you carry on being mugged because you refuse to use your common sense. Common sense you ignore because you refuse to believe that blacks are more likely to be perpetrators in a mugging. When your pockets are empty and you have a busted face, or worse, refuse to learn your lesson so you can truly say I am not going to avoid black areas at night, because I am not prejudice.

I have not been mugged. I use my common sense and to hell with anyone who calls me a racist. If being a racist saves me from being mugged â right Iâm a racist.

finally someone who will speak the truth.i live near atlanta and now about the insane situation,its one of the top cities for violent crimes in america,

and,well, its mostly black.the biggest racists are blacks.period.im the farthest thing fom racist myself but also have no problem telling it like i see it.atlanta is definiately a place where you "better know what neighborhood your in". i wonder what would of happened if a black kid was robbed in a white neighborhood? equality my ass.
