Though there hasn't been a full telling of On the Road in film yet, there have been others that feature Kerouac or the Beat Generation. Here are a few:

This is based on Carolyn Cassidy's memoir of Jack Kerouac and her husband, Neal Cassidy. She was very unhappy with the film, but it does tell part of the story.

Mostly about Burroughs and Ginsberg when they were in Mexico. An interesting look at the far side of beatness. Kiefer Sutherland plays William S. Burroughs.

Johnny Depp as Jack Kerouac?! Yep, and it works. This is a documentary about the beat generation, told with characterizations by Depp, John Turturro (as Ginsberg) and Dennis Hopper (as Burroughs).
No new word about the On the Road film. Although Russell Banks (author of Affliction and The Sweet Hereafter) wrote the screenplay, so it should be pretty damn good when they finally do release it.
