weather still sucks ATM, but am on the road to the slabs anyhow. am holed up in my tent in Auburn Ca, am going to cheat a little and grab amtrak tomorrow morning, to Bakersfield, because it's supposed to keep raining.
hope the cops don't see me in my tent, it's pitched on the eastbound onramp of 80 near downtown Auburn.

in Sac now at the amtrak station, cheating badly to escape the bad weather. will be heading to San Diego instead of Bakersfield. the weather in Bakersfield is expected to be rain through tomorrow night and I've had enough of being wet.
the desert sounds really good now, hope it isn't as difficult to hitch out of SD as everyone says. I'll be there at 5:30am tomorrow, thumbing the rest.

I'm across the border in Tijuana and it's a light rainfall here. Just did the hitch in from The Slabs. Get the trolley to Cajon station, take bus out to Vieja Casino. Right before the casino is a good ramp where most people using it are going for the distance (or just lost/won at the casino) but you can chose to get off anywhere along the route as it follows rt 8 east. Suggest avoiding Alpine as the cops just don't appreciate hitchers.
When you get a ride MAKE sure they're going past Campo 'cause the weather changes a good 20 degrees at 4500 feet and you don't want to get stuck there with little/no service.
Into El Centro and it's a buck to get the bus to Niland (#50) can catch at mall, Wal-Mart, hospital or off main st.

am set up with Kahlia and CEO, waiting more digihitchers to show.

3 weeks in the Slabs was ok, but the desert brings me down, all the dust and not much green things around.
was able to hitch all the way from the Slabs (no IV bus!) all the way to Santa Ana before I took any public transport.
am in Santa Barbara now, right at the beach @ Cabrillo+Milpas, listening to Norah Jones and watching the scenery.
waiting for the weather to warm up in the Motherlode and then back to prospecting.
